A perennial Herb plant, Winter Savory will leaf out from dormant stems in the Spring and is hardy to Zone 4. A longtime favorite of ours on the Farm, the leaves have a distinct robust peppery herb flavor that stands up to meat and bean dishes as well as soups and stews. Longer cooking times will diminish the flavor so add it later in the recipe. A favorite fresh use is adding it to bread crumbs with Parsley and Chives. The small white flowers during Summer are an added bonus for an herb border.
